What an IMEI can tell you
The first eight digits, known as the TAC, can often indicate the device family or model in a public catalog. An IMEI alone does not prove who owns a phone, whether it is network unlocked, whether it is reported lost, whether Activation Lock is enabled, or whether warranty remains.
